Mortgage Meltdown Part 2

We keep looking at houses, made a few offers here and there but nothing yet. Are we nearing the bottom? The only ones who seem to think so are realtors and mortgage brokers. This 60 Minutes is a must-see for anyone thinking about buying a house today.

Post Black Friday

Well, black friday came and went, I ended up with GH III 2 guitar bundle for $80 and Transformers Blu Ray for $10. The unexpected surprise was the Asics Kanbarra 3s which were on sale for a shocking $20 at Footaction....I've already logged 30+ miles in about 4-5 runs.

Black Friday 2009 bfads.net

My first post about a year ago was about "black friday 2007" which was an okay event at best. Looking back at this blog and all I've done with it, I must say is quite disappointing. Anyway, I'm not nearly as talented as the guy that runs Leftoverchinese.com.

Whoa! It's Black Friday all over again! Bfads.net has released a few adscans and Best Buy's ad has been released. However, there's some controversy surrounding the ad, mainly because it kind of sucks. I do have my eye on the $10 Transformers Blu-Ray and the $80 Guitar Hero dual guitar bundle.

Now I'm Inspired

I realize that blogs are probably more exciting with frequent updates and posts. Lately I've been inspired by our latest quest for a new home, which will be our 5th house in 8 years. So maybe I'll be doing just that. Right after the RUSH concert review.

Jeff Buckley

For some reason I remembered this old Jeff Buckley tune, I was probably in 10th or 11th grade at the time. A great song indeed.

Pinewood Derby

Its been quite some time since the last post and I still don't have most of the DR trip photos. Anyway, we had our first ever Pinewood Derby contest a few weeks ago. Making the car was quite a bit of work since I didn't have a bandsaw. It was fun, but we didn't win. Part of the fun was watching all the parents talk about the prototypes and wind-tunnel testing they did to formulate their winning designs.

Return to Dominican Republic

I still don't have any construction pics from the DR and a few friends have asked when I was going to post them up. Well, I still don't have them. In the meantime, I do have pictures of this kid I met outside of the Pani Pueblo in San Pedro. He was more than likely homeless and probably no more than 7 or 8 years old. He was asking me for money, so instead I bought him a loaf of bread. He enjoyed having his pictures taken.

Circus Weekend

With the exception of Cirque du Soleil, I don't think I've ever been to an actual circus in my entire life. I'm not a big fan of watching animals in captivity, so I can't say I was thrilled when my wife suggested we go see the Ringling Brothers Circus. I was actually more intrigued to see if we were going to be greeted by animal rights activists...I wasn't disappointed. The show itself was okay, since I don't even enjoy going to Disneyworld anymore, I may not be the best judge.

Mission Spotlight: Costa Rica 2006

Do you recall the first time you heard the Lord's voice speaking to you clearly? Maybe it happens frequently for you, maybe it hasn't happened yet. It was around February 2006 when someone from church asked me if I was interested in going on a mission trip to Costa Rica. And for the first time I had a very loud and clear calling. I hesitated at first, the cost was around $1500 bucks and it involved a lot of manual labor. The work was back-breaking, the accomodations were spartan to say the least, but to heed the Lord's calling and know that every moment spent working was a turning point in my spiritual walk.

Training for the Tour de Orlando?

It's true what they say about trainers, effective yet extremely boring. I started with the Blackburn Trakstand and was not exactly impressed with its user-friendliness. I may try the Cycle-Ops equivalent, a necessity right now during the frigid Central Florida winter season. I missed the 62 mile Tour de Orlando 3 weeks ago due to being in the Dominican Republic. Next year will more than likely coincide with the 3rd trip to DR. Between the vasectomy and a nearly month long vacation, I can't even recall the last time I got on the bike. If it warms up this week then I'll be wearing yellow come January 09.

Bluffton Bike Lanes!

I never really knew what real bike lanes were until last month when we went to Bluffton SC. And I thought the bike lanes in APB were luxurious. Something about the likelihood of getting killed always makes me rethink my interest in cycling.

Cold Day In Charleston

A visit to Charleston, South Carolina was hampered by some really cold weather last month.
That and getting lost around the city for about 2 hours.

Did we really land on the Moon?

In case you missed the Moon Landing Conspiracy documentary that aired on FOX in the late 90's, today's your lucky day. Bart Sibrel also made one, which was more compelling than FOX's. I guess when China makes it to the moon they will secretly look for all the "artifacts" the Apollo missions left behind.

Savannah

A lot of people complain about how a lot of today's "master-planned" communities are way too contrived and lack any sort of character. A visit to Savannah was quite refreshing.

Farewell Lizzo the Skink

Due to pure laziness, I never got around to posting a picture of Lizzo the Skink. Lizzo was my son's xmas gift which cost $25 along with another $150 worth of accesories from PETSMART. I liked Lizzo, but my son had a change of heart...he had us return Lizzo for a Laptop. Amazingly, the absolutely wonderful people at PETSMART gave us a refund, no questions asked. In case you were wondering what a Skink looked like...
